The season is already coming to a close! Everyone had a great time and continue to become better players.

Way To Go Whalley Teams!

Closing Ceremonies

Sunday June 28th at 11:00 AM for all teams.

There may be a couple of teams unable to attend due to Regionals. The balance of the teams in our association should attend closing ceremonies.

Those not continuing to Provincials must bring their washed uniform (jersey and pants/shorts only) for return to Sonia, our uniform manager.

The actual closing ceremony will take place close to Diamond 2 because there will be games on Diamonds 1 and 3 for the Midget B districts so if you have time to stay and watch a game or two it will be some very good caliber of ball.

After closing ceremonies, we will have hot dogs and drinks for the kids.    Hope you can all make it!

2008 was a tremendous season for Whalley Minor Fastpitch.

We got a new name, a new logo and new life in the association!

Here are a few highlights of the season:

A very special thank you goes out to our retiring Vice President, Jeff Snowdon for his many years of hard work, coaching and volunteering in Whalley.  We'll miss you Jeff.

Also, thank you to all of the executive but especially to Scott Hendrickson and Karen Hefferland for their support and tremendous hard work in keeping this association going and moving forward.

Fastball is Softball

What is FASTBALL

Fastball, also sometimes referred to as fastpitch, is the boys and men's version of Softball, the largest participation sport in North America with over 40 million players.

Fastball has been around for over 120 years and is often called the game for life, being played by five year olds to 75 year olds.

Fastball is played in over 100 Countries, (Canada, USA, Japan, Australia New Zealand and Europe being the most active).

It is the official ball game of the US Airforce with major tournaments held every year throughout the world.

Fastball offers more fun & excitement for the youth players. The larger diameter ball is hit more often. The shorter base distances means more action in the diamond.

At the top competitive level in at the World Championships the pitching has NO EQUAL. A batter facing an 80 mph windmill pitch coming from 46 feet has 3/10th of a second to react. (In Baseball the batter has over 4/10th of a second or 25 % longer to react)

Many famous professional athletes like Wayne Gretsky, Patrick Roy and even major league batting champ, Larry Walker, played fastball.
